Have no trust in this Nafs

Have no trust in this Nafs
Maulana Rumi (Rahmatullah Alaihe) gives a very important lesson for the Seekers after the Sufi path. He says: "Never be completely sure about the state of your 'Nafs". In its natural state it is inclined towards evil. Even if, through the company of a Shaikh and lifelong spiritual exercises and efforts the "Nafs" appear to have changed towards good; never become unmindful of it. Do not become negligent in taking precautions.

Be not like some foolish Sufis, who for a long time through the efforts of Zikr and other spiritual vigils seen their 'Nafs' having become accustomed to subjugation, so carelessly become at ease and unmindful of its dangers. Consequently, they start mixing with strange women and beardless handsome, young men, thinking that the desire to commit sin will not overpower them. Hence, why should one not look at those women and young men with pure intentions. They did just that and how tragic was the result? They became disgraced in a bad way. The 'Nafs' which appeared controlled and dead, became alive. And the looks which were supposed to be "pure looks" turned out to be dirty and prohibited looks.

In the end, the snake of the 'Nafs' bit them and from the path of truth they were rejected and became disgraced. For this reason, our elders have stated that no matter how old the Muttaqi may be, one should up to his death not be negligent of taking precautions against the Nafs. Hazrat Majzoob (Rahmatullah Alaihe) says:

"Have no trust in this Nafs, O devout, one!
Even if it becomes an angel, remain distrustful of it.
Look at the snake of your Nafs
As soon as you are negligent here, it bites there.”

A dog, no matter how trained it becomes, do not take the chain off its neck, or let it become slack. A trained dog will remain a dog. Do not remove the chain from its neck. May Allah Ta’ala grant us the Divine Guidance to remain watchful over our 'Nafs' up to our last breath on this earth.

Story about a Cure for Sensual Love

Hazrat Maulana Rumi (Rahmatullah Alaihe) drew this advice
from the adove story:

"O people, today you fall in love with a well-musk-scented one
with curly locks.
One day that same lock of hair will appear worse to you than
the tail of an old donkey. "
"Those very eyes that cause you to become intoxicated and for
which you are prepared to sacrifice your life,
In old age will have dirty water dripping from them.
Look at a beautiful child who through his beauty becomes
Master among men
But look when old age overtakes him, he becomes worthless.
Look how lovely and fresh the sun appears at the time of rising,
But remember its death at the time of setting.
See how splendid the moon appears on the fourteenth night,
But check how is its sorrowful state as it begins to wane.
O Man, you are in love with good food and fine outward form,
But see the result thereof in the toilet afterwards.
The people of this world, like the world itself, are truly
unfaithful.
When they turn their face towards you, then know it is not the
face,
It is merely the back of the head.
Now that you have come to know the unfaithfulness of the
world and worldly people,
Then establish company with the saints of Allah Ta’ala and
with no other beings except them."

If the Divine is found through ablutions, surely frogs and fish would find him first
If the Divine is hidden in jungles, the cattle would have discovered him by now

Terminology of the Naqshbandiyah upon which this Order is Based

Terminology of the Naqshbandiyah upon which this Order is Based
The famous Persian poet Maulana Abd-ar Rahman Jami (Rahimahullāh) states:

"The Naqshbandis are the chiefs of the caravan,
who'll take the caravan from the hidden path to the Al Haram (Kaba).

There are 11 terms. The first eight are quoted from Khwājah ʿAbdul Khāliq Ra, and the next three are quoted from Khwājah Bahāʾud Dīn Naqshband Ra. They are as follows
1. Hosh dar Dam – Alert every breath. The sālik should be aware that every breath can be spent being alert or heedless.
2. Nazhar bar Qadam – Gaze on the foot. When walking, the sālik should not extend his gaze beyond where he steps. When he is in company, he should face the company and not turn left and right, lest it results in terrible corruption and loss of the goal.
3. Safar dar Waṭn – Journey to the homeland. The sālik moves from his human undesirable traits towards angelic traits.
4. Khalwat dar ʾAnjuman – Isolation in public. Whatever condition the sālik might be in, whether he is alone or in public, eating, walking, talking etc. his heart is in reality alone and engaged with Allāh.
5. Yād kard – To remember. This refers to the remembrance of Allāh Most High. Engage in it every moment.
6. Bāz Gasht – To return. Recite the following Duʿāʾ a few times with utter humility during your Ẓikr, “O Allāh! You and Your pleasure are my aims. Grant me Your love and recognition.”
7. Nigāhadasht – Maintenance. Keep all dangers and whispers of the self far from the heart.
8. Yād dāsht – Notation. The sālik should remember the Being of Allāh without any interrupting words and thoughts.
9. Wuqūf Zamanī wa Hosh dar Dam – Time Awareness and alert to every breath. Both amount to the same thing.
10. Wuqūf ʿAdadī – Number Awareness. Observe odd numbers when releasing the breath.
11. Wuqūf Qalbī – Heart Awareness. The sālik should be aware from his heart which is located below the left breast.

THE DAJAAL TRAP

It is stated in the Ahaadeeth that one of the Major signs to occur before the advent of Qiyaamah (Last Day) is the appearance of Dajjaal, who will mislead large numbers of people.

Presently, however, there are many ‘Dajjaals’ around who are preparing the ground for their leader, Dajjaal, by extending an invitation to different “isms”, promoting musical shows, dancing girls, beauty pageants, filthy and indecent movies, videos, art and literature.

There will be many who will accept and participate in these vices and will become so immune to them that when Dajjaal will make his appearance, wooing them with his music and magical tricks, they will follow him like how the Pied Piper was followed. [May Allah Ta’ala safeguard us all.]

The meeting of Maulana Rumi Ra with Shams Tabrizi Ra (2)

URDU Meeting of Maulana Rumi and Hazrat Shams Tabrezi Ra Maulana Tariq Jameel

Maulana Rumi Ra says “Before I chose the companionship of Shamsuddeen Tabrezi Ra , there was a great distance between my knowledge and practice.” After my meeting with him, my soul was heated with the love of Allah. Initially, he tried to conceal himself out of modesty. He said: “I have nothing, why do you keep following me?”

In reply I said to him: “If one who is intoxicated tries to conceal the odor of wine by chewing cardamoms, to give the impression that he has not consumed any wine, he will not succeed, because the effects of the intoxication will become manifest in his eyes. How will he ever conceal that? Therefore, O Shamsuddeen, your nightly Tahajjud, meditation and zikr of Allah Ta'ala through the blessings of which you have attained the intoxication of the connection with Allah Ta'ala cannot be concealed, because your eyes give you away. Your eyes show that you have consumed abundant pitchers from the love of Allah.” When one just looks at the
faces of Ahlullah, one is reminded of Allah.

Maulana Rumi Ra  requested Hazrat Shamsuddeen Tabrezi Ra thus

Do tell me about the great wealth of love and closeness to Allah which you carry in your
heart,
You consume cauldrons from the love of Allah, Let me have only a sip, O my honorable
Shaikh!

Jalaluddeen cannot tolerate that while his lips are dry, you are lost in enjoyment, drinking deeply from the love and recognition of Allah. After all, being your student, I too deserve at least something. Now that I have held your hand, grant me something.
